Time For Kids

The February 3rd edition of Time for Kids featured a picture of Neliah Rustemi, a fifth grader at the Middle School.  It’s not every day you make the cover of a National magazine; in fact it’s pretty rare. To put the magnitude of this article in significance Mineola was bumped off the cover for a week by the Italian cruise liner disaster.   Congratulations to all of the teachers and students that represented our district in this article.  Special thanks to Jennifer Machin and Courtney Zaleski for all of the time and energy they put in to make their class a show case for technology.

  1. I really appreciate your feedback! I was talking to our school librarian and wanted to show her your website and was shocked to see a response!

What my group is struggling with right now is how to convince this grant committee to give us the money :o ) There are so many educational possibilities! Where do you see the iPad making the most influence? Is there a certain subject area? Or is it mostly student interest in ALL subject areas? That may help us get a good start on all of this. Thank you so much!

  2. Kathy- Thank you fro your blog post. I am happy to see greetings from Colorado. Your question is very general and I could answer it many different ways. Could you be a little more specific on how I can help? We funded our equipment through our budget. The equipment is secondary to internet access, wireless capability- in school and at home, security (filtering) of the devices, insurance for damage or theft and then of course all of the instructional issues and capabilities. 3. Hi! I heard about your school district when my 4th grade son brought home his February edition of “Time for Kids”. I am extremely interested in lobbying for iPads at our school. We have an increasing population of free and reduced lunch students and I am interested in getting those families the resources the students need to continue their studies at home. I am currently working on a grant application for this type of program and am wondering if you have any insight that would help me organize a project of this magnitude. I would greatly appreciate any feedback you may have!
