Guys and Dolls
Well it’s been a week and I am just calming down enough to write about Guys and Dolls. What a show!! Director Joe Owens continues to outdo himself. This production, his 5th, was especially poignant since he played Sky Masterson in Mineola’s 1998 production. Our theater productions continue to grow with over 100 students participating in one form or another. That represents approximately 15% of the entire student body all actively participating in one event! The show continues to demonstrate that our students can do anything! Special thanks to Don Carreras, Barbara Peters, Terry Maisto, Meg Messina, Paul Sommer, Kevin Etherson, Melissa Fusco and Pete Freeman. Now for our Thespians: Wow. You really need the ‘guy’ voices to carry the show and man did they. Of course the ‘dolls’ were exceptional as well. We witnessed the emergence of some seniors that have not been ‘center stage’ and they took their opportunity and ran. Some not so tough guys really had me believing the opposite. The ‘hotbox’ girls really had the joint jumping as well as the Havana girls. As a former stage manager I truly appreciate all the moving parts of a show this size. EVERYONE should be proud of the parts they played in making an exceptional musical.
So many kids all so dedicated and involved in putting on a great performance ….as well as so many staff members on hand to help them put on the best show possible. A GREAT job done by all !!! A wonderful program and outlet for all our kids who choose to be in it or watch it !!!
And the show WAS outstanding! I was wondering what was taking you so long to post about it!!
