Beautifying Mineola
Taking advantage of the nice weather, our students have been spending their final weeks of school helping to beautifying their school grounds. For example, at Jackson, there is a group of students who took it upon themselves to volunteer their recess time and clean-up the school’s “quiet zone.” Their efforts were rewarded, as it turned not only into a group activity with friends, but a learning opportunity as teachers taught the students about gardening, as well as the different types of plants and weeds. At Meadow, our kindergarten students hosted a “beautification project” that asked their families to join them in celebration of the end of their kindergarten year by planting flowers in front of the school. I’m so proud of all our students, especially those who continue to embody the Mineola mission of “contributing positively to a global society.”
