The All-Star Game matters
Hideki Matsui’s play in the World Series is a clear indication that the All-Star games matters. The American League has a clear advantage with the designated hitter. Matt Stairs was unable to make any meaningful difference in Yankee Stadium; the same cannot be said for the Yankee MVP. Bad knees made him a liability in Citizens Bank Park, unless we needed a pinch hit home run. Hopefully Girardi can manage another American League All Star victory next year, so the Yankees can enjoy the advantage again.

Petite’s the MAN…..that’s why I said “almost” a given!
Andy Petite may have something to say about that
I have never understood a league that plays with almost a GIVEN 9th out every rotation.
And also remember, Yankee fans, we are always at a disadvantage when playing in a National League park because our pitchers have NO experience batting, and WE STILL BEAT THEM twice in Philly!
While I don’t disagree with you – the Yankees won number 27 because they were, simply, the better team: better pitching, better hitting, better fielding and better coaching. The home advantage always helps, especially with the DH issue, however, even without it, I truly believe the Yankees would have prevailed.
