Now that’s a lot of pennies!

51,400 pennies!  That is what the third graders at Hampton street have collected for pennies for peace campaign.  Followers of the blog know that Dr. Connolly’s classes at the High School have had a relationship with Hampton 3rd graders about the book Three Cups of Tea.  Here is an excerpt form an e-mail Dr. Connolly sent to Mrs. Doherty and Mrs. Carretta:  “This is enough money to pay a year’s salary for a teacher and hopefully to do even more. Pennies for Peace is about helping others, however, when you help others you get to feel accomplished and like you achieved something important.  Thank you for helping us with this good cause!  We hope to see you soon at your school.  Not only will we teach you, but you will teach us once again!”
