  1. We do plan to make changes to the AGP program for the current 3rd grade moving forward. I am exploring options with two different gifted and talented programs. I plan on presenting to the Board sometime in November. We will wait for the COGAT scores to be returned and analyzed before we make any final decisions.

    Dr. Nagler,

I guess I needed to wait to see what happens in September to have my question answered. Mrs. Murphy IS indeed, teaching AGP to the 4th grade. My daughter is a member of the group and is truely benefitting exploring the topic of architecture!

I would like to know when parents will be informed about 3rd grade AGP. I know the students took a test last spring, the NWEA’s were administered this fall, in addition to the COGAT’s just resently. Will it be before Thanksgiving? Thank you

  3. We recived your request and Mr. Escobar is looking in the old studio to see if we can track them down.

What has happened to the videotapes of the in house productions done by KNZ-71, most notably the years 1972-1980?

  5. Good post Amanda. I thought the student organization was doing some type of survey on what to do with the tennis courts. That would help ease the parking crunch. Please see if Matt YArri is following up on that. As for the back door, single point entry in buildings are important. I am investigating new ID cards that may allow access to that back door. NAgler

    Dear whoever this may concern,

My name is Amanda Alves and I am a senior at Mineola High School. Speaking in behalf of my senior class, I would like to state the reasons why seniors should be allowed to park in the front lot, without being penalized for it.

On November 30, 2009 I was told by Mr.Maurer to remove my car from the teachers parking lot and I refused. This is a reoccurring issue, year after year, class after class . The so called “rules” are that you can only park along side the street, and by the cow pasture along side the fence. Another “rule” is that students are not allowed to enter through the side doors, yet teachers are. I do not understand why this is the case. It is winter, and with winter comes unpleasant weather. Now the teachers get to avoid this weather as soon as possible while us students are hassled for even trying to enter through a side door. Both the guards that work at Mineola know almost every student by face and name therefore this should not be a matter of security.

The lack of space in front of the school is also another issue. Students try to squeeze their cars in spaces and it is probably one of the most challenging things to do. There have been a few accidents where students cars have already been hit. Why should this be going on when the teachers lot has dozens of empty spots day after day. This would not have been an issue if the students already had more parking. As a student I am aware that each teacher has been assigned to a spot, but I do not understand why there are so many open. On a daily bases I have witnessed over 10 open spots in the teachers lot.

It is not the students fault that we do not have a dedicated parking lot like most other high schools. What the school spends money on should be something it actually needs. A track and bike rack are great, but we have two empty tennis courts that have not been put to proper use in years. If we made that into a parking lot I believe this issue would be easily resolved.

Furthermore, do not confuse this letter with selfishness. I am well aware that parking lots do not sprout up in days. I am writing this to raise awareness regarding the open spots in the teachers parking lot, and to help future classes have a student dedicated lot of their own.

    Sincerely,
    Amanda Alves

Dr. Nagler is going to have to start a new site called “Truths” because what I had previously posted as a “Rumor” is now a TRUTH. The Yankees ARE the best team in baseball, in fact in THE WORLD!

A rumor will start soon saying I have no life b/c I am on this site on a Sunday night. Of course, while watching the Yankee game.

Uh yes, the rumor about the Yankees is totally true. Watching game right now – Go Yanks from the girl from The Bronx. There is no mistaking they are the Best!

Thanks for the meeting last night. I know you were probably as frustrated as we all were. Can’t wait for this to be over!!

  13. Matthew C. Miller Oct 15th 2009

Thank you for responding; this site is an awesome addition for communicating concerns/needs/complaints….See you soon!

  14. Matt- I am legally and ethically unable to discuss details surrounding Ms. Molloy’s absence from Meadow Drive. I can say we are working hard to bring a quick solution to the situation. I would suggest that concern parties contact her directly.

  15. Matthew C. Miller Oct 15th 2009

Can you please update the Community about the status of Meadow Drive’s Principal. I am hearing numerous stories from concerned Meadow parents with whom I am friends with since moving to Mineola. Please help me help you in squashing all the mis-information surrounding this topic.

Rumorville….what a great idea! Thanks for making it easier to get correct information regarding the school district.

  17. Several schools showed portions of the speech that were age appropriate. STudents could have opted out of viewing if they wished.

  18. Patti Nolastname Sep 17th 2009

How did the District handle the President’s speech?

I think having this section is a great idea.

  19. Rumors? Has this been a problem in Mineola?
