Color Night
Mineola Middle School has a long tradition called Color Night. It is an evening in which two teams- the red and the white- square off against each other in a series of events. The evening has been around a long time- before girls participated in sports- but it is such a fun event with so much participation it is alive and well in 2011.
This year marks the final 7th and 8th grade Color night performance and the participants truly brought it to a new level. Every performance is created by students, all costumes are designed and created by the captains, and in only 10 practices, over 90 7th and 8th grade girls managed to surpass the level of performance achieved in previous years. In addition to the performances, the girls create a technology and a song piece that focus on the character traits that are imbedded in the Middle School Curriculum.
Hi Dr. Nagler,
I was reading the blog on “Preparing Mineola Schools for the Next Decade and Beyond”‘ which sounds great.
I then came across the “Color Night” topic.
It states “This year marks the final 7th and 8th grade Color Night performance”.
Does this mean Color Night is being discontinued because of the reconfiguration?
This is a time honored & cherished tradition in the Middle School and I would be deeply saddened if my daughter will never get to take part in this amazing experience.
Can you please clarify?
Thank you,
Patricia Schneider
Congratulations to Jerrill Critchley and Mary Ellen Perinchief for a job well done in supervising and helping the girls reach their potential.
