School Monday Pre-K – grade 7
Saturday November 3, 21012 Update 1:00pm
- All of the buildings have power EXCEPT the High School.
- We will have school for Pre-K through grade 7 on Monday November 6, 2012
- High School students will NOT have school. If the power comes back to the high school by Sunday night, everyone will report to school
- We will notify either way on Sunday by 7:00 pm
- Please remember that tonight is daylight savings time, clocks go back one hour.
- We have been contacted by LIPA administrators who assure us that the HS has a high priority
- All staff are to report on Monday (including HS personnel)-
- HS personnel to report to the HS Monday morning
- Most of the traffic lights are working but bus travel will be slow. Please be patient!
- Bus stops may need to change because of downed trees, so it may take longer than expected
- We are hopeful that gas will become more readily available. If not we may not have bus service because we don’t have gas.
- We are cancelling Superintendent’s Conference day, Tuesday November 6, 2012. It will be a normal school day
- We will isolate voters and hire additional security for Meadow, Hampton and Jackson
- I have asked the Elementary principals to arrange for Halloween festivities and parade to occur on Tuesday November 6
- We will keep all of the buildings open late for those families that still do not have power.
- I strongly urge families to remain in the schools, stay warm, use the technology and try to be comfortable until power is restored in your homes.
- I am asking for all staff that can help supervise after school to let your principal know your availability.
- District Internet and e-mail is back-up but will be intermittent
- Please pass the word since communication is still unreliable
