Today eight solar car design teams competed against schools from Brooklyn, Nassau and Suffolk Counties in the Regional Solar Sprint Race. The eight teams earned the right to attend today’s competition by receiving the top qualifying times Friday at MMS. Over 45 design teams, spanning the whole sixth grade,… raced in two races and the top eight times went on to represent Mineola Middle School in the Regional Junior Solar Sprint Competition. In today’s competition over 21 different design teams spanning 3 counties tried to qualify for the champion race. Ready… Set… Go… five of the top six qualifying cars came from 6th graders at Mineola Middle School. When the dust cleared, Mineola walked away with 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.
